Eiffel Tower Proposal Packages & Pricing

Every Local Lens proposal package works the same way: you coordinate your plan one-on-one with your photographer before the day, they position themselves at the spot before you arrive, and they capture everything — the approach, the ring, the reaction, the celebration. No awkward handoffs, no ruined surprises.

Below are the three Paris proposal packages available:

PackageDurationPhotos IncludedPrice (USD)
The YES!60 minutes30 edited photos$275
The GLOW90 minutes45 edited photos$350
The LOVE120 minutes60 edited photos$450

All packages include: one-on-one pre-shoot planning, high-resolution edited photos, a private online gallery, and delivery within 5 business days. No hidden fees. No permit costs. Just the package price.

Which package should you book? The YES! works well if you’re proposing in one spot and want the moment captured cleanly. The GLOW is the most popular — 90 minutes gives you time to walk from the proposal spot to a second scenic backdrop for post-engagement portraits. The LOVE is ideal if you want a full Eiffel Tower photo session after, including golden-hour shots as the light changes.

The 3 Best Eiffel Tower Proposal Spots

The Eiffel Tower area has dozens of vantage points, but three spots consistently produce the best proposals — for different reasons. Here’s exactly what each one offers, and who it’s best for.

1. Trocadéro Esplanade

The view: The Trocadéro is the classic — Eiffel Tower centered perfectly, full height, no obstruction. This is the shot you’ve seen a thousand times, and there’s a reason for that.

Best time to go: 7:00–8:30 AM in summer (June–August) or 8:00–9:30 AM in spring and fall. Arrive early and you’ll have long stretches where the esplanade is nearly empty. By 10 AM it gets busy enough to complicate the logistics.

Crowd levels: High from mid-morning onward, low in early morning. If you’re proposing between 10 AM and 5 PM on a weekend in summer, expect other tourists in the frame. That’s not necessarily a problem — the crowd noise actually helps mask your photographer’s positioning — but it does limit the “just the two of you” feel.

Photography tips: Your photographer will position at the railing or fountain level and signal when you’re lined up correctly. Wear colors that contrast with the stone — cream, navy, rust, and olive all photograph well here. Avoid black if it’s an overcast day.

Best for: Couples who want the iconic, full-tower framing and aren’t afraid of a little crowd energy.

2. Bir-Hakeim Bridge

The view: Bir-Hakeim is the cinematic pick. The bridge’s iron columns frame the Eiffel Tower in the distance, creating a layered, editorial image that’s visually very different from the Trocadéro’s open esplanade. If you’ve seen the movie Inception, this bridge is why it was filmed here.

Best time to go: Golden hour — 60 to 90 minutes before sunset. The warm light travels down the Seine and hits the bridge columns perfectly. The Metro runs on the upper level, but the lower pedestrian walkway is quieter and more manageable for a surprise proposal.

Crowd levels: Moderate, but more local than tourist-heavy. Because it’s a working pedestrian bridge, there’s constant foot traffic, but it moves. Your photographer can blend in easily without standing out the way they might at the Trocadéro.

Photography tips: Position yourself on the lower walkway facing the tower. The columns create natural framing — your photographer will use them to stay partially obscured until the moment happens. The best proposal images from this spot use the columns as a frame within the frame.

Best for: Couples who want something that looks like a movie still. Less classic, more striking.

3. Champ de Mars

The view: Champ de Mars is the park that runs directly away from the base of the Eiffel Tower. You’re looking up at it rather than across at it — which means you get more of the tower’s scale and less of the skyline. It’s grassy, open, and relaxed.

Best time to go: Late afternoon through dusk. The grass gets heavy foot traffic midday (especially in summer, when Parisians use it as a picnic spot), but the open space makes it easier for a photographer to find a clean sightline regardless.

Crowd levels: Busy but spread out. Because the lawn is so large, you can find semi-private pockets even on crowded days. It doesn’t feel like a queue the way the Trocadéro esplanade can.

Photography tips: The classic Champ de Mars proposal position has the tower directly overhead and behind — your photographer needs to be lower (sitting or crouching on the grass) and further back than you’d expect to capture both the couple and the full tower height. This is a spot where the GLOW or LOVE package pays off — you’ll want time to walk the lawn and try multiple angles after the moment.

Best for: Couples who want a relaxed, natural feel rather than a formal esplanade setting. Also ideal for the night proposal (see below).

Night Proposals vs. Day Proposals at the Eiffel Tower

This is one of the most common questions Local Lens photographers get from proposal planners: day or night? Both are genuinely great options, but they produce completely different photos and experiences. Here’s how they compare.

Daytime Proposals

What the photos look like: Natural light, true colors, clear backgrounds. The tower is sharp and detailed. Golden-hour morning and late-afternoon shots tend to be the warmest and most editorial.

Logistics: Easier to coordinate. Your photographer can identify you from a distance, the crowd is visible and predictable, and the light is consistent. There’s less pressure on timing.

Best windows: 7–9 AM (empty, golden, summer) or 5–7 PM (warm afternoon light, less harsh than midday). Avoid 11 AM–3 PM — harsh overhead sun, highest crowds.

Best for: First-time visitors to Paris who want the postcard image. Couples who prefer warm, natural photos over moody, dramatic ones.

Night Proposals

What the photos look like: On the hour from dusk to 1 AM, the Eiffel Tower sparkling display runs for five minutes. Photos taken during this window have a built-in light show in the background — gold and white sparkle, dark sky, dramatic contrast. It’s genuinely unlike anything else.

Logistics: Requires more precision. Your photographer needs to be in position before the light show begins, and the sparkle windows are short (5 minutes per hour). The Champ de Mars at dusk is the most popular night proposal spot — the tower fills the frame as it lights up. Debilly Port (along the Seine toward the tower) is a quieter alternative that still gets the sparkle.

Low-light photography note: All Local Lens Paris photographers are equipped for low-light shooting. Mention “night proposal” when you book and they’ll confirm their setup for the light conditions.

Best for: Couples who want a dramatic, once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere. If your partner loves Paris at night and you’ve been saving the Tower sparkle as a moment — this is it.

Our honest take: Day proposals photograph more consistently. Night proposals, when the timing lands right, produce images that are genuinely electric. If the sparkle window is part of your vision, book the GLOW or LOVE package — you need buffer time to position correctly and recover if the timing shifts.

How the Proposal Photographer Works

The most common concern: how does the photographer stay hidden? At the Eiffel Tower, it’s actually easier than most places. Every tourist spot in Paris is full of people holding professional cameras — your photographer is invisible in that crowd.

There are two approaches, and you’ll decide which fits your plan during the pre-shoot planning call:

Option 1: The “Vacation Shoot” Approach

Your partner knows you hired a photographer — they just don’t know a proposal is coming. The photographer shoots as if it’s a normal couple session, then gives a pre-agreed signal (a phrase, a gesture) when you’re in position. This option gives the clearest, most controlled images because the photographer can get close and stay mobile.

Option 2: Full Paparazzi Mode

Your partner has no idea there’s a photographer. You share your WhatsApp location with the photographer beforehand so they can track your approach, find a position, and lock in without being spotted. After the YES, they introduce themselves and the post-engagement portraits begin.

After your booking is confirmed, you’ll coordinate everything directly with your photographer — spot, timing, approach route, the signal, and any specific shots you want.

Planning Tips for an Eiffel Tower Proposal

  • Book at least 2 weeks out. Paris photographer slots fill quickly in peak season (May–September). If you’re proposing during a major holiday weekend, 4–6 weeks is safer.
  • No permits required. You don’t need permission to propose at any of the three spots above. The Eiffel Tower itself charges entry only if you go up — the esplanade and surrounding areas are free.
  • Dress for the contrast. Jewel tones, warm neutrals, and classic patterns photograph well against Paris’s stone-and-sky palette. Matching outfits aren’t required, but coordinating loosely (similar warmth or color family) helps.
  • Have a backup plan. Paris weather is unpredictable, especially April–May and October–November. Talk to your photographer about a rain alternative — many of the covered areas near Bir-Hakeim and the Seine are actually stunning when wet.
  • Face the Tower, not each other. Make sure your partner is positioned so the tower is directly behind them when you get down on one knee. This is the single biggest photography tip your Local Lens photographer will give you.
  • Tell your photographer the ring story. The more context they have — which pocket, which knee, what you tend to do when nervous — the better positioned they’ll be when the moment happens.

What is the best way to propose under the Eiffel Tower?

If you are still trying to come up with Eiffel Tower proposal ideas, there are many nice engagement spots. If you want to avoid crowds, early is best… but sometimes the crowd acts as a natural background and makes it easy for a photographer to hide among all the other people with professional cameras. Another plus to having more people around is that they will applaud and celebrate along with the couple the moment they hear the YES!

What is the best time for lighting and to avoid crowds?

The best time to propose is definitely early in the morning, about 30 minutes after the sunrise or late afternoon during the golden hour.

Where are the best Eiffel Tower proposal spots?

Our favorite Eiffel Tower proposal ideas are:

  • The Trocadero deck in the early morning/sunrise when not many tourists come
  • Pont de Bir-Hakeim overlooking the Eiffel Tower
  • Debilly port waiting for the Eiffel tower to light up at night
  • The Trocadero Gardens are great for post-proposal photos in the morning.

Other great proposal spots in Paris include:

  • Disneyland
  • Versailles at Marie Antoinette’s hamlet
  • The Louvre Museum
  • Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile
  • Tuileries Garden
  • Montmartre

The moment you reach for the ring, adrenaline and emotions start to kick in and you might not even remember the moment! Hiring a secret Paris proposal photographer for your surprise engagement will allow you to capture and relive that moment again and again.

Your marriage proposal is a story you will never tire of telling, so it definitely deserves better than selfies! Capture it with Paris proposal photography that you’ll look back on for years to come.

How does a proposal photoshoot work?

Before choosing a photographer, we recommend having some Paris proposal ideas in mind first! There are two ways a proposal photoshoot usually happens:

  1. Hire the photographer for a “normal” photoshoot with your partner, but let the photographer in on your secret proposal plan! This is the best way to ensure the photographer captures the moment perfectly, usually at a closer distance and better positioned.
  2. The photographer can be waiting at the designated spot to secretly capture the moment, paparazzi-style. After the big moment, the photographer can introduce themselves and proceed to capture that post-engagement glow.

After your photo shoot is booked, you will be able to plan and coordinate with your photographer directly.

What’s included in a Paris proposal package?

With every proposal photography package, you’ll get high-resolution engagement photos that are professionally edited and delivered by email in a private online gallery within 5 business days. • one-on-one planning with your proposal photographer
  • photos of the big moment and post-engagement

Planning an Eiffel Tower Proposal

Adrenaline starts to rush the second you reach for the ring, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed with emotions… so much so, that some people can’t even remember their engagement moment. Hiring a photographer for your surprise proposal will allow you to capture and relive that moment again and again.

We asked our Eiffel Tower proposal photographer to help answer a few frequently asked questions about capturing a Paris engagement. Below are their answers:

What do you think about surprise proposals at the Eiffel Tower?

I have helped capture dozens of surprise proposals at the Eiffel Tower. It’s a very fun job that I like because the challenge is to capture their surprise moment and expression that will always be with them forever.

How do you coordinate the proposal time?

In my opinion, there are 3 types of ways to propose under the Eiffel Tower:

  1. The other person knows that they hired a vacation photographer
  2. The other person doesn’t know about the Eiffel Tower proposal photographer, so I must hide.
  3. Some other surprise plans. For example, the other person doesn’t even know that the guy will be in Paris.

Case #1 is very simple. We do a normal Paris photoshoot, and at the agreed spot I’ll give a secret hand signal so that he/she knows it is time and that I am ready.
Case #2 is we agreed on a spot. I’ll send my photo so he/she can recognize me. Then we’ll discuss where he/she should stand and where the photographer’s location will be. In Paris, it’s easy to follow people without being noticed since all the tourists are carrying professional cameras too.
Case #3 requires a lot of planning and discussion. It’s almost like a mission impossible game. How can we lure the other person to the spot without ruining the surprise?

How do you set up the meeting spot?

After deciding on the exact proposal spot, we usually discuss the details and logistics. The best way to keep track of our locations, especially if it is a surprise proposal, it to use share our live locations on WhatsApp to make sure we can find each other.

Is there a secret signal to give the Eiffel Tower proposal photographer?

As there are always a lot of people with professional cameras, it is easy for me to blend among them. During the planning process, I ask for pictures of the couple so that I can recognize them on the day of the engagement.

Once I make visual contact with the one who is preparing the surprise, he or she will ask me to take a picture of them with their camera. Then I tell them, “That is a nice spot over there!”

That is the moment of the Eiffel Tower engagement! After popping the question, we take a walk around for more pictures to capture the post-proposal glow.

Are there any additional costs to be aware of?

Good news: There are no additional costs!

Do you have any other general tips?

Make sure your soon-to-be fiancée has the Eiffel Tower behind them so that the proposal photographer can capture the moment perfectly. Wait for people to walk away from you so that you are alone in the frame.

Take your time while proposing, tell her/him why you love her/him, and wait for the answer before standing back up. Also, dress well and try to avoid dark colors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an Eiffel Tower proposal photographer cost?

Local Lens Paris proposal packages start at $275 for a 60-minute session with 30 edited photos. The 90-minute GLOW package ($350) is the most popular for Eiffel Tower proposals. All prices are in USD and include planning, photography, editing, and gallery delivery within 5 business days.

Do I need a permit to propose at the Eiffel Tower?

No permit is required for proposals on the Trocadéro esplanade, Bir-Hakeim Bridge, or Champ de Mars. These are public spaces. If you want to propose on one of the tower’s observation decks, you’ll need standard entry tickets, which can be purchased in advance on the official Eiffel Tower website.

What’s the best time of day for an Eiffel Tower proposal?

Early morning (7–9 AM) for the Trocadéro — fewest crowds, best light. Golden hour (60–90 minutes before sunset) for Bir-Hakeim. Dusk through the first sparkle window (around 10 PM in summer, 8 PM in winter) for a night proposal on the Champ de Mars.

Can the photographer really stay hidden?

Yes — Paris tourist spots are full of people with professional cameras. Your Local Lens photographer knows how to blend and stay out of the couple’s sightline. You’ll discuss exact positioning and the signal during your planning call so there are no guesses on the day.

What if my partner sees the photographer?

This happens occasionally, and your photographer is prepared for it. They can shift to the “vacation shoot” mode on the spot — you’re just a couple getting photos taken in Paris. Once you propose, they step in and the post-engagement session begins naturally.

How does photo delivery work?

Photos are edited and delivered to a private online gallery within 5 business days. You can view, download, and share from the gallery. The number of downloadable photos depends on your package: 30 for YES!, 45 for GLOW, 60 for LOVE.
