The Iconic Locations for a Marrakech Photoshoot

The city is filled with absolutely gorgeous architecture that begs for photos around every corner. Check out some of our favorite locations:

Palais Namaskar

A little bit outside of the city, but worth the drive! Your photoshoot will look like it is straight out of Arabian nights with gorgeous pools, arches, tile, and palm trees surrounding you. As a luxury hotel, Palais Namaskar is a gorgeous location for your Marrakech photoshoot.

Bahia Palace

The Bahia Palace is the quintessential Marrakesh. Countless nooks, hallways, tiled columns, and windows wait as the perfect backdrop for photos that just scream Morocco. Wear bright colors here to really make your photos at Bahia Palace pop!

Jardin Marjorelle

A beautiful desert garden and a shopping-lovers dream, the Marjorelle offers a different, more bold photo style with its blocks of color and various plants. Try to make it for the golden hour!

Marrakesh Instagram Spots

We are partial to the early mornings between 7:30 am and 8:30 am because the whole group starts fresh and there is less chance of other people or tourists around to interrupt your beautiful photo backdrop.

The market is a must-see in Marrakech because there are countless colors, textures, and patterns. Imagine photos by piles of fresh produce and baskets of spices. This is what is all about!

Riad Yasmine

This is the most Instagrammed place in Marrakech. You’ve seen it, you know it. It’s a small green dipping pool in the center of a teeny courtyard at Riad Yasmine. Try to go early before all the influencers show up. Entry fees may apply due to the recent explosion on social media.

Amanjena Hotel

The hotels in Marrakech are simply gorgeous. The Amanjena is a five-star resort that has ancient meets modern architecture. If you are staying at a luxury resort, you might be able to have a shoot with your Marrakech photographer right after breakfast to take advantage of your beautiful surroundings.

La Mamounia Columns

Another influencer hotspot, it’s best to go early to make sure you get that perfect shot!

How to get the best photos in Marrakech

Although we are obviously partial to this question, we highly recommend hiring a vacation photographer. Plus, your photographer can basically act as an informal tour guide to give you all the best photo spots and local secrets for what to see, eat, & do in town!

Avoid the Crowds

The best photo spots are going to have crowds, especially after the growing popularity of Marrakech last year. The best way to avoid the tourist herds is to go in the early morning at 7 am. Skip breakfast and grab a coffee on the way so that you can be ready for an epic Marrakech photoshoot.
Many of the organized tours spend a couple of hours for breakfast, so by getting out by 7 am and completing your shoot before 10 am you will be sure to have those hot spots all to yourself, and not to mention great lighting!

Golden Hour in Marrakech

Equally important to the location of your shoot is to make sure your shoot is as the perfect time! Without a doubt, the best time to take photos is in the early morning or early evening.

Golden hour is the much sought after soft warm light just before sunset. It’s every photographer’s dream lighting. The time depends on the season. Check out our Golden Hour Calculator.
