Pick your season

Málaga’s motto could be “any time of year” — it enjoys sunshine nearly year-round.

October through March is the sweet spot for sightseeing: quieter visits to the Alcazaba, Gibralfaro, and the Cathedral, with comfortable walking temperatures.

Spring brings wildflowers to the Montes de Málaga hills nearby.

Summer (June–September) is beach season proper — hot, lively, and centered on Malagueta. August brings the citywide Feria de Málaga — a huge, festive celebration, but also the hottest and most crowded stretch of the year.

Golden hour over the fortress

💡 Local tip: Málaga’s golden light suits the honey-coloured stone of the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro beautifully. Bring water if climbing to Gibralfaro in summer — it’s a warm, exposed 20-minute uphill walk.
