Buda or Pest? Best Photo Spots on Both Sides of the Danube
Capture Your Travel Story with a Vacation Photographer in Budapest
Did you know that Budapest was formally two countries– Buda and Pest? That’s right! Hungary’s capital city is bisected by the River Danube and is now home to nearly 1.8 million people. The architecture around the city is breathtaking and it’s no surprise that there are tons of picture perfect spots to be found throughout. If you’re looking to capture memories of a lifetime, check out the best photo spots on both sides of the Danube River. We hope you have an incredible time!
Fisherman’s Bastion
Located on the Buda bank of the Danube, the Fisherman’s Bastion is a stunning fortress that is just calling to have its photo taken! What makes the location so picture perfect is that it offers panoramic views of the sprawling Hungarian city. Check out this location during dawn or dusk to really capture the most beautiful photos.
Chain Bridge
Joining both sides of Budapest together is the magnificent Chain Bridge– located in the center of the city, visitors can walk the length of this bridge with no problem. Equally gorgeous by day or night, you’ll have photos to last a lifetime.
Hungarian Parliament Building
The second largest parliament in Europe, this building is well-known for its outstanding architectural style. The best pictures can be taken from the Buda side, on the bank of the river looking back across the Danube.
Vajdahunyad Castle
Built in 1896, this Hungarian castle is a prime spot for taking beautiful photos. Home to festivals, concerts, and interesting exhibitions throughout the year, Vajdahunyad Castle is stunning no matter what time of year you visit.
Szechenyi Thermal Bath
With its water supplied by two thermal springs, Szechenyi is the largest medicinal bath in Europe. Not only is it the largest, but it’s arguably one of the most gorgeous as well! Open daily from 6AM to 10PM, you’ll be able to shoot picture perfect photos any time of day here. We recommend shooting at the golden hours of dawn or dusk!
Take a Photo with a Princess
While any spot along the Danube River serves as an ideal photo opportunity, there’s one in particular that we recommend. The Little Princess Statue sits on the railings of Pest’s Danube promenade. The statue was sculpted in 1972 and is now the perfect addition to any photo taken along the river!
