Best light: dusk/night ·
Terrain: bridge + riverside. The city’s landmark steel bridge, free to walk and dramatically lit after dark. Adventurous types can book a bridge climb.
3. South Bank Parklands
Best light: golden hour ·
Terrain: flat parkland. Streets Beach (a city-center lagoon), the Wheel of Brisbane, the Nepal Peace Pagoda, and GOMA — a photogenic riverside precinct.
4. Mount Coot-tha Lookout
Best light: sunset ·
Terrain: drive-up lookout. A sweeping panorama of the whole city and river, out to Moreton Bay on clear days.
5. New Farm Park
Best light: November ·
Terrain: riverside park. Rose gardens and riverwalk, spectacular when the jacarandas bloom purple in November.
6. Wilson Outlook Reserve
Best light: sunset ·
Terrain: small clifftop park. A locals’ hidden gem above Howard Smith Wharves — the best perpendicular angle on the Story Bridge. It’s small, so arrive early.
