What makes it special:

☑️ The symmetry of the courtyard and colonnade makes the whole place feel calm and beautifully balanced.

Cusco isn’t just about Machu Picchu. If you have a half day or one free morning, Maras is such a good add-on — especially if you want something a little quieter, more scenic, and easy to pair with Moray.
A simple half-day plan:
📍 Moray — for the circular Inca terraces and mountain views.
📍 Maras Salt Mines — for that layered, earthy landscape that feels completely different from the usual Cusco stops.
📍 Maras village — if you have extra time for a slower little walk in between.
It’s usually about a 4–5 hour half-day trip from Cusco, so it’s one of those places that feels very worth it without taking over your whole itinerary.
A few useful things to know:
☑️ Moray is usually open around 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
☑️ Maras Salt Mines are generally open daily, with entrance often around 10 soles and not included in the Cusco Tourist Ticket.
It’s such a good reminder that some of the most memorable places near Cusco aren’t the most famous ones.
