Everyone shoots the beaches — and they’re worth it — but Phuket’s most distinctive frames are up on the headlands, in the old town, and at its temples. Here are seven to build a shoot around.

1–2. Old Phuket Town
Best light: morning / late afternoon · Terrain: flat streets Pastel Sino-Portuguese shophouses, especially along Soi Romanee, plus bold murals throughout the quarter. Warm side-light on the facades is the move.
3. Big Buddha (reopened 2026)
Best light: morning or 4–5:30pm · Terrain: hill drive + steps A 45-metre marble Buddha with 360° island views. Reopened in March 2026 after works. Active temple: cover shoulders and knees, shoes off, respectful poses only.
4. Promthep Cape
Best light: sunset · Terrain: headland, paved Phuket’s iconic sunset — a palm-fringed cape over the Andaman Sea. Arrive 60–90 minutes early in high season; it gets packed.
5. Windmill Viewpoint
Best light: sunset · Terrain: roadside pull-off Right beside Promthep, overlooking Ya Nui and Nai Harn — the same golden light with a fraction of the crowd.
6. Karon Viewpoint
Best light: mid-morning · Terrain: drive-up platform “Three beaches” (Kata Noi, Kata, Karon) stacked in one sweeping frame. A polariser cuts the glare.
7. Wat Chalong
Best light: morning · Terrain: temple grounds, shoes off Phuket’s grandest temple — gilded detail and a tall pagoda. Same dress code as Big Buddha.
