1. Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC Park
Best light: 8–10pm · Terrain: flat park The 452m twin icons, reflected in the KLCC pool during the nightly Lake Symphony fountain show (8–10pm). The main “photo point” is crowded — head to the KLCC pool side for a cleaner, quieter angle.
2. Batu Caves
Best light: before 9am · Terrain: 272 steep steps The rainbow staircase and the 42.7m golden Murugan statue. Go before 9am for soft light and no tour buses. Stand well back to fit the statue, stairs, and hill. (Watch the food-stealing macaques.)
3. Thean Hou Temple
Best light: weekday morning · Terrain: hilltop, tiered A six-tiered Chinese temple hung with hundreds of red lanterns — a zoom from the square edge compresses them beautifully.
4. Merdeka Square
Best light: ~7:30am · Terrain: flat, open The colonial Sultan Abdul Samad Building with the supertall Merdeka 118 behind — old-and-new KL in one frame, best before traffic builds.
5. Kwai Chai Hong

💡 Local tip: Most of the city spots (KLCC, Merdeka Square, Kwai Chai Hong, Jalan Alor) are a cheap train ride apart; Batu Caves is a 30-minute KTM ride. Do the caves at dawn, the city by day, and the towers after dark.
