2. Dom Luís I Bridge (upper deck)
Best light: sunset · Terrain: flat; 60m above the river The double-deck iron icon (a Théophile Seyrig design — an Eiffel partner). Shoot from the Gaia side at sunset toward Ribeira, when the western light paints the skyline gold. The bridge’s metalwork makes dramatic leading lines at the ends.
3. Miradouro da Serra do Pilar
Best light: golden hour · Terrain: hilltop (Gaia side) The best elevated panorama — the whole historic centre, the river, and the bridge in one frame.

Best light: at opening · Terrain: indoors, busy; ticketed The famous crimson staircase under a stained-glass skylight. Buy a timed ticket and arrive at opening for the clearest shot; it’s dim inside, so a fast lens helps.
