Zanzibar is warm year-round, so the season is about rain — and, uniquely here, the tide shapes the shot as much as the sky. Here’s how to time it.

The two dry seasons — June to October and December to February — are the best windows, with sunny skies, low humidity, and calm, clear seas. June–October is slightly cooler; December–February is warmer.
March to May brings the long rains (the wettest, least reliable stretch), and November has short rains — both worth planning around or avoiding.
Watch the tide, not just the sky
💡 Local tip: Zanzibar’s east coast has huge tidal swings — at low tide the sea can retreat hundreds of metres, exposing dramatic flats; at high tide, sandbanks like Nakupenda shrink or disappear and The Rock becomes an island.
