Where to stand
From the summit, the classic composition looks west toward the castle and Old Town skyline, with the Greek-style National Monument columns and the Nelson Monument as foreground anchors. Move around the plateau for different framings — the columns for drama, the west edge for the clean skyline.
Time it right
Sunset is the payoff: the sun drops behind the castle and lights the whole Old Town warm, then blue hour brings the city lights up. It’s popular, so arrive early enough to choose your spot. Sunrise is the quiet alternative, with soft light and almost no one there.
