Thinking of booking the 30 minute photoshoot option? This short and sweet photoshoot might be the easiest way to work a photoshoot into your schedule, however, depending on your group and your preferences a 30 minute shoot might not be the right fit. Read on to see if a 30 minute shoot is the right fit for you!
A 30 minute photoshoot works fairly well for solo photoshoots or couples that want some quick snapshots. If your group is larger than 2 then we recommend more time so that everyone can get a nice selection of photos to choose from. The time needed for a photoshoot can vary greatly when depending on only group size. For example, an hour shoot might work well for a group of 4, but would be too short for a group of 8 or 10. Large groups are more difficult for a single photographer to work with, so allow your photographer the time to direct everyone and make sure the essential group shots and the separate individual/couple’s shots are captured as well.
FAMILY MEMBERS & CHILDREN – KNOW YOUR CROWD
Typically, family photoshoots with many generations or with small children do best with a 1 hour to a 1.5 hour shoot. That seems to be the sweet spot where families receive a beautiful gallery of many photos to choose from, and everyone is in a jolly good mood for the duration of the photoshoot. Small children (and adults!) might get tired, fussy, cranky, hungry, and this can effect everyone else in the photoshoot, which ultimately reflects in the photos. So take a moment to think about your gang, and gage whether the 1 hour or 1.5 hour option is best. If your group is 6 or more, we recommend 1.5 hour or 2 hours.
SELECTION OF PHOTOS
A 1 hour shoot will provide you with a nice bunch of photos to browse through and choose your favorites to download, while a 30 minute shoot might not give the same variety. In a 30 minute shoot you could get 20 photos to choose between, whereas an hour shoot you might receive 40-50 to choose between.
Also think about warm-up time! The first 10 minutes of a shoot are usually some warm-up photos to get a sense of the flow of the photoshoot. The best photos will be towards the end of your 30 minute photoshoot, because you are warmed up and the creative juices are flowing. 30 minutes might give you that one fantastic shot, but the more time you book for your photoshoot, the more opportunities you have for capturing those EPIC photos.
We all want a great deal. A 30 minute shoot is the cheapest option, so if you are on a tight budget it could be your best option to working a photoshoot into your vacation plans. If you have a little bit of wiggle room, we recommend to go for the hour or more. Our pricing takes into account the time spent planning the shoot, the photographer arriving to the meeting point early, the actual time shooting, the editing of the photos, the preparation of your gallery, and the overall facilitation of each photoshoot that the Local Lens platform provides. A 30 minute photoshoot might be the cheapest, but for only $50-$60 more you would receive double the photos.
Celebrating something extra special? Go for a longer photoshoot, and maybe get a little dressed up! Booking a shoot just because? Maybe go the shorter shoot route and dress more casual. Think about tailoring your photoshoot to suit the occasion. Give a big life event it’s due!
